to avoid making a costly mistake when answering an SAT
Essay prompt.

First, you need to know what kind of answer graders are
looking for when you receive a question like

“Are people held back by the their adherence to the
beliefs of the majority or doing things in the
conventional way?”

Do they want a yes or no?

Do they want a sometimes it’s this way or sometimes
that way?

Can you stray from the topic at all?

Second, you need to know how to begin your answer.  The
first few sentences are crucial to making a good
impression on SAT Essay graders.

Should you begin by listing your examples?

Should you begin by stating your thesis?

Should you begin with some introductory remarks?

Third, you need to know how to structure each paragraph
so that it’s easy to read and makes your supporting
details into proof that your thesis is “the truth.”

Should you restate your thesis in each paragraph?

Should you use personal experiences in your examples?

Should you use examples from the news or history?
